Wife loves the milk drinks as well, cappuccinos and lattes are easy to make as well, just pressing a button.
I just wish the water tank was bigger, so it doesn't need to be replenished as often.
It definitely works best with an Italian roast (lighter roast, less oily). Starbucks beans might be too greasy for this. We either buy Italian brand name or local roastery beans. Love the built in water filter - no need to use distilled or filtered water. Maintenance is fairly easy every week or two and it's great at letting you know the bin is full or the water tray needs emptying.
The only, very minor, negatives we've found is having to wait 30-60 seconds once it is powered on to run through its maintenance cycle (I'm impatient for my coffee in the morning) and sometimes the water level sensor is a bit finicky. Neither issue is a big deal.
The overall build quality seems quite good and I feel like we'll see many years of use out of this machine.
Never one time have I had an issue with this machine.
I put in beans and water. I get delicious espresso.
I clean the bottom drawer and grounds every couple of days and I take the inside section out once a week and rinse it out.
Before I purchased my machine I saw reviews where people talked about mold- I am going to say they probably were not cleaning their machine.
I love this machine, and since I have chronic fatigue, it has been a game changer for me.
I no longer use the milk frother- for me it wasn't worth the effort. Now I just put my milk in the coffee cup along with the creamer and put those in the microwave to heat up and then make the double shot of espresso. Bam. Latte.
After use we take the milk container off and put it in the refrigerator for use again later. We do shove a napkin plug in the outfall to help keep it clean and wash it at the end of the day.
There is a series of ways this machine keeps itself sanitary. Due to this, you do have a catch bin to empty out. It does have a float that you can see that let's you know it is becoming full.
So far, we love this. It is everything my husband, resident coffee snob, wanted. What makes him happy, makes me happy.
The actual set up is well explained and there are also several videos available.
The maintenance is a breeze! Everything is easily rinsed or washed by hand. I have yet to put anything in the dishwasher and likely never will just because that kind of intense heat can warp even heavy duty plastic over time. Not to mention, it takes me 5 mins to rinse and wash all of the components so why would I wait for a 2hr dishwasher cycle to finish??
Adjusting the grinder down to the finest level was easy, only took a few brews. If you are at all nervous about this purchase, I suggest a YouTube deep dive. That is what I did, and I was aware of every pro and con people have had and was able to decide it was the machine for me.
I will say, if you are suuuuuper particular about your coffee/foam then this is not for you. This is for the person who loves yummy coffee and is tired of paying coffee shop prices. I personally use coconut milk in the frother and it works wonderfully. I have also tried oatmilk and regular milk. All work about the same. Warm/room temp milk will of course froth more. I saw a few people mention that the beans have to be a particular "non-waxy" brand so maybe do your research on what to buy there.
If for some ungodly reason things go pear shaped, I'll update this review.
2-) Also use much more water than my previous DeLongi as it seem to clean up the brewing unit with a fair amount of water after every brew. So waste platter is filling up quite fast!
3-) Also bought several replacement filters but not too sure IL keep using these as these are triggering the thank "empty" switch while 2 inches of water still in the tank... Also got this "Clean" blue light coming up for no apparent reason and again using 1 cup of water to turn it off! Will try figuring out what is this feature! Besides, so far looking good for the price! Will comment later while figuring out all the features!
4-) Would have preferred a unit pouring the milk as a last operation but not sure about other brands!!!!
This machine makes delicious coffee drinks, from strong espresso to creamy lattes. The built-in grinder ensures fresh grounds for every cup, and the adjustable settings allow you to customize the strength and flavor to your liking. I was particularly impressed with the quality of the espresso – it's bold and flavorful, without any bitterness.
The Philips 3200 is incredibly user-friendly. The intuitive touchscreen interface makes it easy to select your desired drink and adjust the settings. The machine also does a great job of automatically cleaning itself, which saves me a lot of time and effort.
While there was a slight learning curve to master all the options and cleaning processes, the overall experience has been delightful. It's become a hit with my guests too; they unanimously prefer the fresh ground coffee it produces over my old drip coffee maker.
If you're looking for a convenient and versatile solution for enjoying cafe-quality beverages at home, the Philips Latte Go is definitely worth considering. Cheers to hassle-free coffee enjoyment!
One issue I had at first was that the coffee wasn’t as strong as I was used to (I tend to like it pretty strong), but it’s still good coffee. You can make drinks stronger by adjusting how fine the grounds are with a little knob in the bean compartment at top, but I didn’t start messing with this until very recently. You can only adjust in small increments while the grinder is active to avoid damaging it.
This machine is good for guests who want to make and customize their own individual drinks, though there is a small learning curve for first-time users. Once they know how to use it, they often comment how cool it is, and some have said they’d like to get one too (if it weren’t so expensive).
Maintenance is fairly simple: You have to change the water filter every few months, rinse the easily removable “brew group” every week or two, and apply grease to it every couple months. The only problem I had was reinstalling the brew group for the first time (there’s a little yellow switch on the side that needs to be in the right position). There was also one time we didn’t change the water filter while the replacement light was flashing (it gave us plenty of notice; we just procrastinated too much), so we had to buy a special descaling fluid to clean it out before we could use it again.
Yes, the machine can get loud, but I haven’t met a coffee grinder or latte maker that was quiet. This machine’s noise level seems pretty standard to me.
There are a few little tricks to using and maintaining the machine so that you can get the most out of it, but so do most machines like this. Overall, I’d say it’s very easy to use and makes good drinks. The price is a bit high, and you also have to consider the added costs of buying whole-bean coffee and replacement water filters. But convenience like this often comes at a price, right? I would say it was worth it for us.
This machine is very simple to use (once you set it up as you want, meaning coffee flavor, I have to search/watch few good videos in internet)
Cappuccino is super easy, tasty and creamy even with almond dairy/milk.
Some reviews state that it is loud but in my opinion it is not.
Very please so far.
What we like about this product is its versatility. Sometimes we want espresso, but often we like a cup of strong coffee.
On occasion we enjoy a cappuccino, and the latte attachment works very well. Even makes a decent macchiato!
The keypad is very intuitive and provides lots of options to adjust the strength of the brew to suit your tastes.
It gives you multiple options for adjusting the grind coarseness, which is important.
Of course the quality of the coffee you use is critical.
Wife is from Colombia, so her standards are very high.
If you only drink espresso there are other good options. But if you like versatility, this machine will serve you well
I learn how to make ice lattee caramel, bought whipped cream and some Tori caramel sauce and bam! Fresh coffee every morning on my way to work. Family loves it everyone can enjoy their own individual different coffee settings.
The machine allow whole bean coffee which is the best in my opinion and it also accept ground coffee has a tiny door on top to add it. Water temperature is perfect nice and hot and the grinder is excellent. Water filter is great!
Not to mention Philips offered me 5 years warranty bumper to bumper free no down payment.
Great machine you will love it, give it a shot take
Some time to learn how to use it day by day you’ll become pro.
The Americano is good but maybe a tad too watered down for my taste The rest of the clan seems to like the Latte and Cappuccino options - and the way it does steamed milk is quite impressive (if you're into that).
Im not a fan of straight up espresso, so I haven't tried that (although, I have used it to add an espresso shot to a single large coffee for a really bold cup).
Easy to clean, easy access to fill water tank and empty the used grounds.
Wish the water tank was bigger.
The machine fits under low cabinets, with easy and convenient access to grounds and water compartments. The automatic buttons for coffee selection is so easy to select and use to create a perfect cup of americano/ cappuccino, latte, espresso or regular coffe .
Uses whole beans or grounds Easy to use and clean!
Worth the price compared to other on the market.
My wife likes capuccino and the milk frother works well. It is fairly easy to use, no difficult settings to figure out.
Most of the parts can go in the dishwasher.
My only complaints are very minor:
It does a rinse cycle before and after use. So if you set your cup on the tray and then turn it on, it will put some hot rinse water in it . Not a big deal as you can just dump it out. But also if you leave your cup on the tray too long, it will eventually auto-shut down and run its rinse cycle again, putting hot rinse water into your coffee. Fortunately you have a long time to pull your cup before it shuts down so that’s not a big issue.
The other minor complaint I have is that it doesn’t actually detect if the grinder is empty. I went to make a coffee a couple days ago and it went through the whole cycle but only gave me hot water. I realized the hopper was empty so I added beans, dumped out the cup and ran it again.
Overall this machine is worth the money and it makes a very good cup of coffee. It is very convenient and the features are well thought out.
Hope this helps others. Oh, and you need to make a couple of shots before the grind difference seems to take full effect. Not sure why but I have also seen that mentioned elsewhere.
Positives
- Automatic coffee grinder built into the machine.
- Automatic milk frother.
- Multiple drink options.
- It does what it says it does and gives you a fresh cup of coffee.
Negatives
- Small portion sizes. The highest setting can be reprogrammed and give you a max of about a 12 oz cup.
- It doesn’t get as hot as I would prefer. Highest setting is drinking temperature.
- No foam only option, there is a workaround however.
- The biggest issue is when using pre ground coffee if you do not select the correct setting by holding down the button the ground coffee will end up in the internal components of the machine and will need to be cleaned.
- There’s a lot of plastic components.
- Cost.
*** Update 9/6/23 ***
I have had this machine for a few months now. What I like most is how easy it is to use as an all in one machine. You can use whole bean or ground coffee and it will make espresso, coffee, americano, cappuccino, and lattes. I prefer fresh beans over pod coffee and it is a better experience overall than your typical keurig machine.
The machine is quick to start up and makes coffee reasonably fast. Portions can be smaller than what you are used to but you can select to have two cups made in succession. It is relatively easy to clean and can be disassembled for rinsing. The only issue I have had so far is using ground coffee but forgetting to hold the button for it so it ends up grinding coffee and dumping the fresh grounds I put inside the machine. Usually the grounds get inside the unit which then has to be cleaned. There is no stand alone button for only using the milk frother.
Now for the price is it worth it? This is really hard to judge, I think if you are somehow who is spending a lot of money at Starbucks then this machine is a good option for a quick morning cup of fresh coffee without too much cleanup. If you are relatively happy with pod coffee I would suggest going with a milk frother instead to enhance your drinks.
*** Update 7/15/24 ***
This machine still works as good as the first day I bought it. With proper maintenance, cleaning, descaling, and replacing filters it has held up very well. There are some stains and discoloration on the milk frother from timeworn use. But overall still happy with the quality of coffee this machine produces. The same positive and negative qualities still apply.
I use new filters and descale the machine regularly as the machine notifies me with the replacement light.

If you are looking for a good coffee that’s easy this is it. If your a super coffee snob and want to do latte art this isn’t it, but if you want to hit a button and enjoy your beverage, this is it.
It was fun for a while but then I realized I’m spending more time playing as a barista and less time enjoying my coffee.
The answer: super-automatic espresso/coffee machines.
Just push a button and you have world class espresso in a few seconds. It’s consistent every single time. In fact the only thing I would comment about to new owners is that the machine GETS BETTER OVER TIME. Especially the first hundred cups. When I first got the machine it was not grinding perfectly and the pucks were loose and watery. I saw some suggestion on their website to let the machine settle in for a hundred cups.
Here I am at cup number 70 and it’s already producing some of the best espresso/cappuccino/latte I’ve ever had.
This unit, the 3200 + Lattego, was the perfect entryway for me into the world of superautomatics.
When it comes time to upgrade I’ll probably be able to share my old one with my sister or brother. It’s a Philips brand. Needless to say when I do upgrade in a few years I’ll be staying within the Philips and Saeco branding.

If you're looking to enhance your coffee experience and enjoy barista-quality beverages from the comfort of your own home, the Philips
Pros:
I love the LattéGo frother! It's beautifully designed, easy to keep clean, and does a great job. I use Fair Life 2% milk. Check out the picture of the cappuccino I made recently.
There is a good selection of drinks. My favorites are espresso, coffee, and cappuccino
You can select aroma strength and volume for each drink.
It has a bypass so I can make decaf with ground coffee
Maintenance is easy. Just follow the directions
Speaking of directions, the manual is complete--It took me awhile to realize that there are diagrams in fold out pages in the back of the manual.
I like the filter--I still use filtered water from my fridge, so I like the idea of never/rarely having to descale the machine.
There is good clearance under the spouts so our cups fit.
Cons:
Sometimes the water light goes on when the reservoir isn't empty. Not sure why this happens, it's not a deal breaker.
The design of the grounds container is a little weird; there is a flat piece that is in front of the grounds container--was annoying until I realized that I don't have to remove this piece to empty grounds.
One downside is the increased coffee consumption because it's just too easy to go to the machine and brew yourself some great tasting espresso. But I like to think of that as a testament how much we enjoy the machine.
I find the machine excels in all available drinks: espresso, Americano, "Coffee", Cappuccino, and Latte Machiato. My favorites are the Americano and Latte Machiato. Each drink setting allows you to configure the aromatic, espresso, and milk froth amounts. These settings each have three levels, and they are unique to each drink. The settings are remembered so you don't need to manually program the machine each time.
Milk frothing is done through a two-piece system that forces steam into the milk, up a tube, and out into your coffee without the need of a steam wand. Hot water can be dispensed out of a separate outlet, which is great for tea. The machine takes care of the warm up and shut down procedures (prewarming the group head by pushing hot water through it for some time on initial start). Maintenance is important-- you must remove the mechanism and rinse it with water once a week, and clean the inside from coffee grounds, but this only takes a few minutes.
We have found the included filter does a very good job filtering out impurities that exist in most municipal water systems.
Overall, very happy with the machine and would recommend to anyone.
Easy to clean! It actually clears its own tract so when turning it off or on it is best to slide a cup under the spout to catch the wash out. The pull out tray makes it so easy to get rid of the excess water and the grounds (which we compost). Yes, we clean it and refill the water tank after every mornings use. If you are too lazy to do that then don't bother getting this. However, for us it is simply heaven.
Initially the latte and cappuccino options were for my wife, but I will admit to still partaking in a dressed up coffee on occasion. 😁
I made a peppermint mocha using the latte function for a friend and was told it tasted just like Starbucks. That pretty much says it all.
CONS
- I’m still guessing at this point how much exact milk to pour in the milk frothing container so I don’t waste any milk.
- It doesn’t froth as well as the separate Nespresso milk frother. It does a decent job, and I still use the frothing attachment on the Phillips most often. However, the foam is not as luscious and thick with the Philips (as it is with Nespresso). For this reason, I’m holding onto my Nespresso milk frother until further notice.
PROS:
- delicious coffee
- environmentally conscious (no pods going into landfills!)
- easy to clean (so far!)
- customizable beverages
Overall, it’s a big investment and one that we’ve been happy to make. No regrets! Would purchase again!
I like latte and possibilities to do diff size of milk foam.
One thing what I didn't find here is to do hot milk with foam without coffee (kids like it). But i found round way and i just switching a cut to extra cup to exclude coffee to get milk only. All my friends and my family use it every day, so cool purchase!
* The machine is drop dead easy to use.
* The drip pan and grounds tray is simple to empty and clean. Realize that you do need to empty if frequently as the machine startup always cleans the pipes and drops water into the pan at every power on.
* The frother is dead simple - add milk - and go. The cappuccino is amazingly tasty. Saving me $5 a workday from the local store.
* I have been using it for regular coffee too and replaced my Kuerig, as its as fast, cheaper per drink, better for the environment (no cups) and tastier.
* Its so simple, power on, select the drink, select the strength and size and press go. If you don't change settings select your drink and go.
* I have had drinks from far more expensive machines at friends houses and this one prepares the best , in my opinion.
My other machines were way messier, took longer and were easy to mess up the taste/flavor because of the manual steps.
So simple to operate, simple to clean, tasty drinks. Its a perfect home espresso and coffee machine!
I've had the machine for well over 6 months now and can make a few additional observations, plus clear up some misconceptions from other reviews.
Coffee Strength - it call comes down to what you are used to. I've read 1-star reviews from those who say it is too strong, and others that say it is too weak. In comparison to a K-cup, it is much stronger. In comparison to a traditional espresso machine, it is much weaker.
Coffee Grind - I highly recommend a 3-4 grind setting (or finer). I would not wait 30-days before changing the grinder setting (that's crazy in my mind)
Coffee Choice - do NOT use oily beans. Highly recommend fresh medium roast beans. It is also an Espresso machine, not a coffee machine, so don't expect the ability to choose different coffees (like a k-cup) or to make 16-oz coffees. You technically could, but you'd need to make 2-4 coffees to get that level of volume.
Now to be fair, while it is super convenient, it is not going to give a quality of espresso similar to a semi-automatic or manual machine. It will likely be much more consistent, but consistently 'average' vs. what you can get from a machine like a Breville Barista Touch/Pro/Express (or other semi-automatic). Ideally, you get a 2:1 ratio of coffee in about 25-35 seconds. That is, 18g of ground coffee should yield 36g of espresso in 25-35 seconds on my Breville. On the Philips, it's 10-14g of ground coffee yielding 30-40g of coffee in about 15 seconds. Clearly, that will result in a less than ideal espresso. I wish there was a way to slow down the extraction like some superautomatics.
Reliability - no issues so far. Simple weekly cleaning (rinsing and lubrication of the brew group) per the instructions is all that is needed.
-------------
I’ve wanted a good espresso machine for a long time and I have experimented with many before this Philips 3200 (and then later traded in to get a 5400 with more features including ability to make double shots for all drinks).
First, I tried the manual - definitely cheaper, but also more of a hassle with lots of bad shots, some great shots and a bit of mess each time. Not for me.
I also tried Nespresso and for work, it does a great job as there is no clean up (provided you are not using the milk frother). But it is not cheap - machines are $300-$700 (or more) and the coffee is 70-85-cents each, meaning a double shot latte is pushing $2+ milk, which can add up over time.
So - I looked into fully automatic machines and for the longest time I have wanted one, but they are VERY pricey (many are $2k+) and also require extensive maintenance / cleaning.
I mean, Jura, which makes some great machines, suggests that after each milk drink, you run a rinse & cleaning cycle. This is a bit excessive, but certainly at least once a day you need to do it and it involves getting a tablet, some water, running the hose through the solution… no thank you.
This Philips is a game changer in that regard. The milk jug is stand-alone meaning there is no ‘hose’ that the milk runs through, and it doesn’t go into the machine at all. It is all managed via the frothing jug, which comes apart in two (well, three parts including the lid) making it super easy to rinse off. That’s it.
In terms of making good coffee, I followed some videos online that suggested adjusting the grind right away to 3 or 4 and it made a world of difference. Immediately the pucks became much less soupy and more solid.
In terms of the touch screen, it is pretty basic, but in all honesty, for what you are wanting to make, it does a great job. You can customize the espresso strength, ml, and shots and also adjust how much milk you want.
I can’t speak to longevity yet, but so far, it is doing great and I’m loving this machine more than I even thought I would.
It makes great coffee and we also love the milk frother for lattes. We have moved to decaffeinated beans so we can enjoy a cup in the evening as well. Here's a simple iced coffee method we love during the summer: fill a cup about half full of crushed ice, add a little caramel syrup, put your cup under the spout and have this machine dispense one or two servings of Espresso into it. Add a bit of chilled milk and stir. Fantastic!
Some complain the beans don't move down to the grinder quite well enough, but in truth that is such a minor issue. Make it a habit to check the beans when you check the water.
We highly recommend this reliable machine.
- Your first several cups will be watered down and undrinkable. The pucks will be a soggy mess. Do not get alarmed and rest assured this is just temporary as the machine gets broken in.
- I found the coffee a little weak for my liking so I adjusted the grinder to level 4 and it's much tastier now (perhaps some of that is the machine also dialing in a better cup as it's still breaking in).
- You can program the quantity of the Large size for any of the drinks.
- The manual doesn't tell you the drink sizes, but a couple of the more Helpful reviews tell you the size for every combo (thank you!)
- For purists, the milk is always dispensed first. Doesn't matter to me, but could be a concern for others.
- The temperature isn't very hot, even at the highest setting. This is more of a concern for the milk based drinks.
- You can't make a double of the milk based drinks like you can for espresso/coffee/americano. I end up adding in a single shot of expresso if I need a little extra jolt, which is not a terrible inconvenience, but is an additional step.
new machine.
UPDATE: The coffee/froth is very good. Caution ref. Dark roast beans. Not mentioned anywhere, but several post warn grinder can not handle.
It brews a fantastic expresso, cappuccino, americano and coffee. Really easy to maintain and to use, we brew at least 4 drinks a day.
I wish the water tank was bigger, we fill it every day for getting 4-5 12 oz drinks. But, the space it takes up on the countertop is minimal, so there is that tradeoff.
I'd buy another one if I thought I needed another one :>)
The latte go attachment is very easy to clean, most the time I just rinse a few times with warm water. The milk is actually steamed and properly foamed unlike the countertop type machines that do heat and whisking, this uses the actual steam from the machine, but you don't have to count or do anything but pour milk to the right line. Though I thought I would use this mostly for mochas and lattes, the americano is so good I've split my daily coffees about 50/50.
I'd definitely buy the machine again with a few notes: the estimates on when to empty it and how often it needs water are definitely based on the espresso drinks like the latte - the coffee setting and the americano require more frequent filings. And you have to empty the grounds container closer to every 8 drinks when doing doubles, but it is very easy to do so, and no grounds all over my counter from tamping individual servings. Definitely a lovely at home all in one machine.
Seven years later I stumbled upon this machine. Phillips had left an impression on me that this machine lived up to. It's almost prefect. The coffee that comes out of this machine is wonderful. It's easy to maintenance, but the water reservoir has to be filled every day with just one coffee drinker in our home. It's really only capable of making three cups of coffee per-fillup. I'm still giving this machine a five star review because I absolutely love it. Just be aware that it chugs water during its self cleaning.
Edit: 2 months into use the machine stopped brewing. After follows instructions and reading all possible troubleshooting advice in the manual and on the internet, we discover that an o-ring has broken and the machine isn’t pumping the espresso as it should. We are trying to find the o-ring replacement on our own without ordering through Philips-Saeco so that the fix doesn’t take so long. I wonder if this is what happened to other who said their machine stopped working? Really disappointing for a two-month-old expensive appliance.
I was scared that this would be complicated when I read other interviews. It couldn’t be easier to clean and maintain, considering what it does. Just read the manual, which isn’t thought either. The lattego attachment makes foamed and steamed milk easily, and you can use the preground coffee setting to make the steamed milk by itself by stopping before the machine dispenses water. This machine is awesome. Order Lavazza super crema espresso beans for lower cost and great-tasting espresso.
BIGGEST CONS - for this model you cant just froth milk which to me is crazy. The volume of coffee the machine produces for just a normal cup of coffee is small so I have to choose the "two cup" coffee setting and then run it again for a "single" cup. You can easily adjust the volume of eater, intensity of coffee and amount of froth from the preset amounts but the machine should revert back to the preselects after the drink is made. This would make snense because you may make an odd adjustment for many reasons and then forget what the preselects were.
Thanks
my Little Summary of “Press and hold for 3 seconds” with the following buttons under “Power Off” are able to change some hidden feature settings …. suits EP3241/54
1) Aroma = Water Hardness Soft1>Hard4.
2) Quantity = Water Temperature Low>default>High.
3) Aqua = Activate Aqua-Filter.
4) Calc = Auto-off timer 15/30*/60/180mins.
5) Espresso = Restore factory setting.
6) Coffee = On/off panel Beep Sound.
this LatteGo automatic espresso machine is super easy to make cappuccino under 3 mins from power On. and Super easy to clean up too. It’s make noise but not really loud enough to wake anybody in the morning. It’s gave me really fast, tasty and creamy espresso as always.
if you knew how to use “Bypass” feature … “Press and hold 3’s ” on the “Pre-ground/Aroma” to bypass the grinder on Latte Macchiato can easily get “Hot Milk only” and same way to get “Foam Milk only” on Cappuccino.
so far, for the past 5 months I just have to refill coffee beans and fill up the water tank at the Front side when it’s empty.
Do “Maintains it” just take a minute to drain the drip tray and empty the bin after every use, and also took about 5-10mins to rinse the brew unit weekly.
Wait 5 seconds to “Reset the built-in counter” when took out the Drip tray under Power On as always. Otherwise it’s will keep LED remind you to empty the bin after every 8-10 shots.
The coffee spout is adjustable to fit most travel mug not taller than 16cm which is big plus to me.
And all beverages are able to program it’s own quantity size from 50-250ml but at least larger than the default size. all details is on the manual.
be cautious with the Aqua-filters, it’s needs to be fully filled water and lets bobbles completely out before installation, otherwise you may get trouble with the water intake cause by the air block.
and the running cost, according to the manual that Aqua-Filter needs to be replace every 3 months or every 95L of water ( >1,000 cups), It’s means I need to replace Aqua-filters x4 per year. That’s about 25cents per day for Filters and each shot of the 10g coffee beans cost about10-20cents. Total is just Less than $2 per day for me to make 6-8 shots espresso daily. (I like Melitta and Lavazza beans both not oily)
Lastly, For the past 5 months I did once filter change already and did descaling once just follow with the Philips you-tube instructions step by step easily. the machine still works very great.
Well - hardly any coffee came out when setup was complete. I’ve gone through all troubleshooting steps without success.
Frustrating and disappointing.
Pictured is a cappuccino - sort of

Let me be clear, this is a BIG purchase for me so I was nervous about it. I am a single working dad and I take spending this kind of money very seriously so I did a lot of research reading reviews and watching reviews before ordering. Most of them raved about the LatteGo system and rightfully so! No tubes or hoses to clean out or get plugged up, just a single container that is easily washed out and can be stored in the fridge if there is milk leftover. I get some people like to put in the work to make their drinks, but I just want a good end result with the lease effort possible and it really can't get easier than this! I definitely do not regret buying this machine and would highly recommend it!
When I got it set up I worried about the machine being plastic and not metal like the others. In my mind coffee machines are always metal.
After using it however those thoughts have gone away. The machine is plastic but still very sturdy. Doesn’t feel like the plastic that breaks.
Makes a great cup of espresso or cappuccino. I will admit the cappuccino wasn’t quite strong enough for me so I simply added another shot of espresso. The whole thing takes about 3-6 min. I’m actually excited to wake up and get to use the machine. It’s fun to watch.
I’m definitely going to keep it and save the few thousand on one of the other units like Jura. Maybe those are better and last longer but I don’t see the Benefit. Also they both have a two year warranty.
Lastly I love the size of the unit. It doesn’t have parts all over the place like the Jura and the milk is directly connected. It fits perfectly on my counter. I highly recommend if you like Starbucks.
The coffee - as you would expect - also tastes amazing. The double serving is just about 12oz. Cleanup so far is VERY easy. I have not had to lubricate it yet (every 2 months) but have cleaned everything else (and it’s easy and not time consuming).
I missed this machine in my life, wish I bought it back in March!! Unbeatable for the price point and convenience.
The key innovation here is that it gets rid of the difficult to clean tubes found on other units. It does this by effectively splitting the steam/milk tube in half by using a cut groove on the inside side of the clear plastic milk cup, pressed against a rubber fitting on the black plastic cup holder. When you snap the two together the two halves pressed together create the "tube" where the milk/steam is mixed. Pop it apart again and wash it and it's completely clean and ready to go again. The whole milk cup/black plastic assembly just hangs off of the steam fitting on the main unit, so you just lift it up and off easily, then unsnap the black plastic and cup and rinse it. Ridiculously easy and convenient. I usually pop it off and rinse and dry it and hang it back on again after brewing a cup or two (three) in the morning for my wife and I. The unit is always clean.
TL;DR this unit is just very simple and from an engineering and ease of use perspective just super easy to work and to keep clean and keep in good order. It just feels really close to a regular coffee machine, even though it makes cappuccinos and lattes.
If I had known how easy and reliable one of these machines was to actually use and how much we would actually use it I would have bought one years ago.
<UPDATED REVIEW>
Yeah.. this turned out to be our #1 favorite kitchen appliance of all time.
I thought maybe I did something wrong. So, I experimented a lot with the coffee strength settings...1 dot, 2 dots, 3 dots...same horrible tasting coffee. I also experimented with water quantity (I think they call it the drink quantity button)...I tried 1, 2 and 3 dots. Still the same horrible taste.
At this point I decided to return it. My husband suggested we keep it for a week and see if there's anything else we can do...maybe change the type of coffee or something.
The next day while reading reviews on this machine I came across a tip...change the coffee grinder setting. I decided to try it, but I didn't expect it to make that big of a difference...WRONG. It made all the difference. After setting the grinder to 4, I can't believe how good the coffee that comes out of this machine! We've had it now for a week and my husband and I can't imagine life without it.
Here are the settings for my cappuccino : Coffee grinder 4, coffee strength 2 dots, water 1 dot, milk 2 dots...I know this is frowned upon but I like to stir it before I drink it.
Here are the things I absolutely love about this machine:
1- It does everything... grind coffee, brew coffee, froth milk and self-clean. if you've never owned an automatic machine, like me, you will be blown away.
2- You can get an amazing coffee with a click of a button (once you program your favorite drink)
3- Cleaning the milk container is a breeze.
Things I saw people complaining about:
1. It uses up a lot of water.
This is true... however considering it self-cleans and I only have to worry about cleaning once a week, I don't mind it.
2. Weekly and monthly clean is too much.
I would GLADLY do a quick weekly and monthly clean/maintenance if it means that on a daily basis all I need to do is click a button to have a cappuccino.
Please bear in mind that my review is based on the fact that this is my first super automatic coffee machine.
The steamer is easy to clean, there is a rubber gasket that presses against a plastic channel so no hose to worry about. I wasn’t impressed with the froth that it produced but I was using almond milk. There is no way to use a stem or only get steamed milk. You press latte macchiato or cappuccino and it puts the milk in first and then espresso. It only does the macchiato style which is milk first and espresso 2nd. When I first got the machine this seemed important but now I cannot remember why...
The brew unit is easy to clean as well, it pops right out and you can rinse it and wipe it off and goes right back in. The drip tray has a little tab that pops up when full. It slides out easily along with the container of used pucks. When you turn it on it will run a bit of hot water though so the drip tray tends to fill quickly. I would recommend keeping it near a sink but it is fairly large and you have to load the beans from the top. There is about 18” clearance from the bottom of my cabinets to countertop and the machine is about 15” tall.
The machine is fairly loud and it even vibrates the floor slightly while running. You are left with a sense of awe at its coffee smashing power. I bought the maintenance kit for it as well because with great power comes great responsibility.
So what do I recommend? Start with a double espresso and then add macchiato. 3 shots of espresso with a little milk is perfect.
Cons - like others have said, it is not quiet. It doesn't bother me much. But I have raised two boys who are now teens, have two cats and two dogs, and am not used to a quiet house. I have an air compressor for an airbrush and it sounds like the compressor sounds from outside the house. Really just soothing background noise for me at this point. Price. It is a kitchen appliance. In order in my house of use is the fridge, the dishwasher, this machine, the microwave, the oven, and the rice cooker (we cook rice every day). If you can accept that you are paying for an appliance and not just a little coffee maker, it will sit easier. As it is, I was really hesitant. My family has convinced me it was worth the purchase. Just pull off that sticker shock and the pain subsides quickly.
I now have the problem that I drink too much coffee/ caffeine. The good news is I'm slowly saving money by not going to coffee shops plus the time savings is great.
The only downside is the noise when making coffee especially with the milk frothing. That's lots but still totally worth it
